Hard Problems & Big Impact

Work that’s technically interesting and actually matters to customers. Bring your thinking caps.

Ownership & Accountability

You’ll own work end to end, with a voice in the what and the how, and be trusted to make high-impact decisions

A High Bar

Every hire will raise the bar. It’s not all technical: you lead by example, influence, and improve those around you.

About Veramatic

Veramatic builds financial automation software for automotive dealership accounting teams.

Dealership accounting is highly specialized, and much of it is still repetitive manual work: keying in data from statements and reports, checking it, reconciling accounts, and proving the numbers before they can be posted. Veramatic automates that work. Accounting rules are applied consistently, and the exceptions that need a person’s judgment are surfaced for review. The result is that accounting teams spend less time processing numbers and more time using them to run the business.

The Role

At Veramatic, Senior Product Engineers own customer-impacting features end to end, and the business outcomes they drive.

Veramatic is hiring Senior Product Engineers. You care about the customer as much as the code. You’re comfortable when the problem is only partly defined, and you take features from a rough idea to production. That means scoping the work, building and testing it, deploying it, and owning the AWS infrastructure it runs on. Success is measured in customer outcomes, not story points.

You’ll partner closely with Product Management and our in-house accounting experts to understand the business problem, shape the solution, and make the tradeoffs. You’ll build with modern AI toolchains every day, and you’ll help raise the quality bar for the team around you.

The Problems You’ll Work On

  • Connecting financial data to accurate accounting. Financial data reaches us in many ways: documents and reports in many formats today, and direct integrations with the systems our customers run their business on. We turn that data into accounting that balances to the penny. Applying AI to make this faster to build and more adaptable is a core opportunity.
  • Accuracy is the product. Posting rules, reconciliations, and output formats for the many accounting systems our customers rely on. Our customers trust us with their books, so getting it exactly right matters.
  • Configuration that scales. Every customer’s setup is a little different. We want onboarding and per-customer configuration to be fast, safe, and self-service.
  • A platform ready for its next chapter. We’re evolving a mature platform on AWS, and we want engineers who will help decide what comes next.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and ship customer-impacting features and epics end to end: clarify the problem with Product, write the technical design, break the work into clear steps, then build, test, deploy, and measure the result with customers.
  • Clarify vague requirements by asking the right questions, and propose more than one solution with clear tradeoffs.
  • Build and improve the integrations and data pipelines behind our product, from ingestion and parsing to validation and output, where correctness is non-negotiable.
  • Run the AWS infrastructure your services depend on, in code, and keep it cost-effective, reliable, and secure.
  • Bring your range: help evaluate and choose the right languages, frameworks, and tools for each problem, not just the ones we use today.
  • Use AI to increase development speed and quality through intelligent automation and accuracy. Let AI agents and harnesses handle the repeatable work, so you spend more time on the human parts of engineering: understanding customers, design judgment, and building for scale. Help the team do the same.
  • Write secure, testable, maintainable code, and ship tests, documentation, logging, and alerting with every change.
  • Fix root causes, not just symptoms. Simplify the code you touch, catch defects before they reach customers, and improve reliability.
  • Estimate your work and keep Product and leadership informed. Share bad news early and bring a path forward.
  • Review code every day, and use code review to raise the bar and mentor peers. Take part in interviewing.
  • Be on call for the systems you build and run.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years building and operating production software, with a record of shipping customer-impacting features end to end and measuring their business outcomes.
  • A product-engineering mindset: customer-obsessed, comfortable with ambiguity, and focused on business outcomes over output.
  • A polyglot, full-stack engineer. We currently use Node.js, but you’re just as comfortable in Python, Go, or another language, and you know when to reach for each. You have range across backend, frontend, data, and infrastructure, and you learn new tools quickly.
  • Hands-on experience owning AWS infrastructure in code: architecture, data stores, security, and cost.
  • High proficiency with AI development toolchains and harnesses: agents, skills, MCP, and the judgment to verify AI output rather than trust it.
  • Strong testing discipline: unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, and CI/CD pipelines you trust.
  • Solid data modeling. You care about data integrity and correctness.
  • Clear, proactive written and verbal communication in English, and the ability to work across time zones in a remote team.
  • You know how and when to use Slack threads. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nice to Have

  • Experience with integrations and data pipelines: third-party APIs and systems of record, ETL and event-driven pipelines, and document parsing, OCR, or LLM-based extraction.
  • Experience evolving and simplifying a mature codebase without slowing delivery.
  • Experience building LLM evaluation, tracing, or observability into a product or developer workflow.

What Success Looks Like

  • In your first week: ship to production, and learn how a customer’s financial data becomes accurate accounting.
  • By 30 days: own a product area end to end with Product, and ship measurable improvements to quality or speed, using and extending the team’s AI harness.
  • By 90 days: you’re the go-to engineer for your area, and customers feel the difference.

How We Work: Our Bar

We hire for attitude, aptitude, and first-principles thinking. We evaluate candidates on four questions: Can you do the job? Will you raise the bar? Will you strengthen our culture? Can you grow?

  • Product engineers, not ticket-takers. You start from the customer problem, not the ticket. Ask why, challenge requirements when they’re wrong, and propose what’s right for the customer and the product.
  • End-to-end ownership. You scope it, build it, test it, deploy it, run it, and measure it. You own the business outcome and the customer’s happiness, not just the merged PR.
  • Simplify. Reduce complexity; don’t add to it. The best solution is often the one with fewer moving parts.
  • Bias for action. Balance speed with correctness. Move fast in discovery, hold the line on quality in delivery.
  • Insist on high standards. Yesterday’s extraordinary is today’s ordinary, especially with AI. We hold a high bar on code, architecture, and conduct, and we hold each other accountable even when it’s inconvenient.
  • First-principles thinking. Remove assumptions, question the status quo, and be clear on what we’re actually trying to solve.
  • Transparency. Share bad news early. Be clear about status, risk, and tradeoffs.
  • You build it, you run it. Every engineer is part of the on-call rotation. Owning production is part of owning the outcome.
  • Done means done. Code, tests, documentation, and logging and alerting ship together. We want to know something is wrong before a customer does.

What We Offer

  • Real ownership: meaningful work end to end, from the first idea to production, with a direct line to customer impact
  • Fully remote from anywhere in Latin America, with core hours that overlap U.S. time zones
  • A small team with no layers and no handoffs
  • Modern AI tooling, and a team that invests in learning and growth
  • Colleagues who care about the craft and about each other
